ZB bank on Tuesday 14 April 2015 through its Mashava branch launched the Stash Account at Great Zimbabwe University Mashava Camps, targeted at students.

This new service, Stash Account, will enable students to open a bank account and make transactions at a very low rate compared to a normal bank account.

Speaking at the launch, Mashava branch supervisor Mrs. Ernia Chipindu said the services were available to every student who wants to open an account with ZB bank and the account is packaged with a number of benefits.

“The Stash account only charges $1 US per month, 25c withdraw fee for any amount a student would want to withdraw and it doesn’t charge any amount for deposits in any ZB bank,” Chipindu said.

The Stash Account is accompanied by an ATM card which enables students to purchase goods at any POS machine nation-wide using ZimSwitch.

“The account can perform interbank transfers whereby one can do a RTGs transfer from a CBZ bank into stash account,” she said

Masvingo District Manager Mr Desmond Chimwara added that with stash account a client can do e-banking and mobile banking using any mobile network in Zimbabwe. However the account expires soon after a student graduate.

‘Stash account enables students to purchase airtime and make payments using their mobile phones which is relatively cheaper as compared to other services offered by other banks,’ said Chimwara.

Stash account is an initiative done by ZB bank Masvingo District Management to benefit Great Zimbabwe University students. ZB bank has branches in State Universities in the country and this programme is expanding to all Universities.
